Super Fabrications provides automatic gate installation for driveways and entrances across Northern Virginia, from a single residential driveway gate to a full commercial access point. Every automatic gate we build is engineered around the opening, the traffic pattern, and how you want to grant access, not a one-size design.

We design and install swing gates, slide gates and cantilever gates in aluminum, steel and custom metal work, each automated with a LiftMaster® operator sized to the gate’s weight and opening. Whether you’re integrating with your existing fence or exploring a new aluminum fence and automated gate system, our team ensures a system tailored to your property.

Gate Types We Install: Swing, Slide & Cantilever

Choosing the right automatic gate starts with your driveway. A tight entrance, a sloped drive, or limited side clearance each point toward a different mechanism, and we walk through the options during your on-site visit.

Swing Gates

Opens like a door, in or out, on a single leaf or as a double gate meeting in the middle. It’s the most common choice for residential driveway gate installation where there’s clear space for the leaf to arc open.

a sliding gate

Slide Gates

Rolls sideways along a ground track. Slide gates work well where the driveway slopes, where snow and ice make a swinging leaf risky, or where there isn’t room for a gate to swing open.

Cantilever Gates

Slides on an overhead roller system with no track embedded in the driveway, so there’s nothing to plow around. We use cantilever hardware most often on wider commercial openings and driveways that see plow trucks in winter.

Gate Opener Brands & Automation

Every automatic gate we install runs on a LiftMaster® operator, matched to the gate’s weight, width and daily cycle count rather than sold as a one-size fit.

Residential Operators

Residential driveways typically use LiftMaster’s swing or slide operators, which support smartphone app control, timed auto-close, and safety loop detectors that stop the gate if a vehicle or pedestrian is in the path.

Commercial Operators

Commercial and higher-traffic entrances use LiftMaster’s heavier-duty slide and swing operators, built for continuous-duty cycling and often paired with a telephone entry system such as the LiftMaster CAPXS for visitor and delivery access.

Access Control Add-Ons

  • Entry keypad & camera pedestal — code entry with a video feed of visitors, often paired with an intercom.
  • Magnetic lock, up to 1200 lbs — electromagnetic hold with a fail-safe release on power loss.
  • In-ground exit wand — detects an approaching vehicle for hands-free exit.
  • Knox Key fire box — standardized emergency access for fire departments.

Still deciding whether automation is worth adding to your driveway? Our post on why automated gates are becoming a popular choice for homeowners walks through the tradeoffs.

Electrical or Solar: Powering Your Gate

Electrical Power

The standard option, connected to your property’s electrical system. It’s reliable and keeps the gate operating smoothly at all times, though trenching to the gate location can add cost if it’s far from the main power source.

Solar Power

Solar panels capture energy to run the gate’s motor, which is useful where running electrical lines is difficult. Performance depends on sunlight, and a backup battery is recommended for reliability during low-sun periods.

Our Automatic Gate Installation Process

  1. Free on-site consultation. We walk the driveway or entrance with you, measure the opening, and talk through swing, slide or cantilever options.
  2. Design and material selection. We spec the gate style, metal and finish, plus the LiftMaster operator sized to that gate.
  3. Permitting and utility locate. For gates that need trenched power, we handle the utility locate and any permit the county requires before digging.
  4. Site prep and gate installation. We set posts, hang the gate, and run conduit or solar wiring to the operator location.
  5. Opener and access control setup. The LiftMaster operator, safety loops, and any keypad, camera, intercom or exit wand you’ve chosen get installed and wired in.
  6. Testing and walkthrough. We test the full cycle, program your remotes and app access, and walk you through daily use and safety features before we leave.

What Affects the Cost of Your Automatic Gate Installation

Two automatic gates on paper-identical driveways can price out differently once the details are factored in. The main variables:

  • Gate width, and whether it’s a single or double leaf
  • Material: aluminum, steel, or custom ornamental metal work
  • Mechanism: swing, slide, or cantilever
  • Power: standard electrical trenching versus solar
  • Access control add-ons: keypad and camera, magnetic lock, exit wand, telephone entry, or a Knox Key fire box

Because these factors interact, we give exact numbers only after seeing the site. Request a free on-site quote and we’ll walk the property with you.
